Cannot Speak Highly Enough
We have known Matt for a 3-year period in the capacity of a Maths Tutor for our 3 children, who are in various stages of high school. Initially Matt started with our eldest in Year 10, who has now graduated from School (2023), with a good math result. Matt’s approach made a positive impact on our eldest, a previously reluctant maths learner with his organized, engaging, and approachable teaching style. Matt saw him through his final year with a calm approach, that gave our son confidence and a strong understanding of the math concepts required. Our middle child (finished Year 9 in 20203) is a high achiever who Matt was able to support to achieve even greater results. He stretched her learning in areas when needed and was able to develop her own confidence in seeing herself as being “really good” at maths. Our youngest (finished Year 7 in 2023) is clever however needed support to consolidate the basics and stay focused to achieve his goals. Matt was a patient expert at keeping him engaged, motivated and moving through small steps to each bigger goal. Matt was always able to explain concepts in various ways to help make sense of each concept, an amazing attribute to have as a maths tutor/teacher. Although Matt’s approach is similar with all three of our children, he always individualized his approach to each child to connect and drive individual goals, as they are all very different learners. Matt always comes with resources (texts) and knows the curriculum well, so can jump in and out of topics with ease, to extend or consolidate learning. Matt showed the importance of developing good mathematical habits which have benefited our children greatly, both in exams and generally to consolidate their math skills. Matt has shown great commitment to our family throughout the years, being both flexible in timings, but also being available in times of “math stress” around exam time. We, my husband, and I cannot speak highly enough of Matt, and his teaching/tutoring skills across all secondary school students. Matt has excellent communication skills both with us and the children, making it effortless to schedule and work with him over this period.
